Of course I stumble in posting the first freaking day of the month. So today you get two episodes.

4thewords.com is the best place to lose yourself this month and still feel like you’re writing. You won’t write much, but boy you’ll have fun!

2000 / 50000 words. 4% done!

Get your wordcount meter at Languageisavirus.com

Have you friended Mur on NaNoWriMo or 4thewords yet?

Don’t forget Chaos Terminal comes out November 7!

The daily podcast is usually for supporters only, but this year I’m putting it out for everyone! If you like it, consider supporting with a paid subscription to either Patreon or Substack to get the exclusive episodes after November!

Please remember that Evil Mur is evil and gives terrible advice. Evil Mur will not be responsible for choices you make in November.

Transcript

Valerie Valdes 10:08:
…I wonder if there’s like enough NaNoWriMo people at this point who are published writers that it’s kind of lost some of that sheen of the amateur. Somehow I don’t know. But I definitely haven’t heard that as much as I feel like I also would occasionally see that kind of grump on social media. But yeah, I think that, that more and more writers, the benefit of NaNoWriMo, even if you’re a professional writer, and you write 100%, of the time all year round, is that you’re doing this together with other people who are also doing this thing. And even professional writers, a lot of them don’t write 50,000 words in a month, a lot of times, it’s a much slower pace, and it’s spread out over a longer period of time.

[ISvBW] Is Rewriting Still Difficult?

I Should've Been Writing illustrated logo, black and white with red accentsOld I Should Be Writing episodes are new again with classic podcasts from 2005! If you wonder what I Should Be Writing sounded like back in the old days, when podcasting was new and before I was published, look no farther! I’m releasing most of my old episodes with commentary, and maybe some new interviews with old friends.

The shows will also be released with transcriptions for free, but Patreon and Substack supporters will get early, ad-free podcasts and annotated transcripts too!

I Should’ve Been Writing S1 Ep5

It’s September, 2005, and I have breaking news- rewriting was difficult then, and it still is. I’m at a point where I guess I have to just accept some things and move on. It will always be difficult.

How would NaNoWriMo be different if it were marathon training?

You’d change the time you got up, the time you went to bed, what you ate, when you ate, and your weekends would likely be dominated by long runs. And until you got used to it, your daily life and daily chores would be affected.

NaNoWriMo is marathon training. Treat it like that. Expect it. You got this.

Where to find me!

[NaNo] Day 6: Snacks, and a Live Visit From a Romance Writer!

Illustration of people standing on a pile of books, NaNoWriMo Writer 2021I was delighted to be talking about snacks today, when another NaNoWriMo writer joined my Wisdom stream.

(I haven’t said this, but one person joined and it was odd and he just wanted to talk about podcasting, so I cut that part. But this time it was a writer.)

So we talked self pub and Amazon Vellum and romance and pen names (he writes under a secret pen name with his partner, otherwise I would give him more of a shoutout.)

Today’s goal: 10000

5600 / 50000 words. 11% done!

And I’ll write now. Let’s hope for more words.
