It is I Should be Writing number, Season 17, I got my lightbox over here. Season 17 Episode 10. And welcome to the live stream, and welcome to the podcast if you’re listening later. I’m streaming to both Twitch and YouTube today, which is why I was a little late because apparently I needed a YouTube thumbnail. And I know YouTube thumbnails are very important. And I did not have time to make a good one. So I made a crappy one and wrote best thumbnail ever underneath. Because hanging a lantern on the fact that you’re half assed is legit. Totally legit. But today I wanted to talk about editing because people ask me that in the discord a lot, and it is no secret that I absolutely hate editing. Hate it. But I do want to talk about a couple of other things before I get started. I have been working this week. I’m trying a little bit more structure to my day. And for two days now, I have been writing first thing in the morning. Even yesterday when I had a dental appointment. So I wrote, and then I went to the dentist so I was very proud of myself for that. But I have been trying not to despair because even though I’m proud of myself for writing first thing in the morning, I have, it’s taken me a lot longer to edit this piece than I thought it would. So far, it’s taken about four hours to edit the thing I thought would take one hour. And so that was a bit frustrating. But I’m still, I mean I got to edit it so luckily they gave me more time than I thought I would need so that’s good. So, I’m getting work done. It’s getting there. That’s a happy thing.

This is I Should be Writing season 17 episode 9. And I hope everybody had a good slash productive weekend. Still doing a lot of goal focusing and it’s still hard to think big picture when you know there’s little picture stuff that needs to be done. I feel like my evil brain hijacked my ADD meds this morning, because I-I took my ADD meds and then I looked at my budget. And I’ve mentioned it before, I am not sponsored at all but the You Need a Budget app has been pretty much life changing for me in the fact that I finally, finally understand how to budget and how to keep up with the budget. So I’m very aware of my budget now but I was doing something new with it and I decided to spend hours on it this morning. Hours. And while it is important, it is not a priority, like say, writing. Hence the name of the show. Yeah, so what I wanted to talk about is someone was asking in the discord about how a book comes to be from the very, very early moments, and this is gonna be different for everybody. So I’m going to go through my book Six Wakes and I’m going to go through the book I’m working on right now and sort of work out that time period for you. A lot of people say how long does it take to write a book and I never know the answer because there’s a lot of thinking. And then there’s some procrastination in there. Does, do they want to know like how-how much time typing do I do? It’s-it’s very nebulous thing, so I figured I would take you through the life’s, lifespan, or timeline of my books.

This is I Should Be Writing season 17 episode 7. And I’m trying to keep up with that a little bit better. Got a fancy light box to take pictures of. And I’ve just messed up everything and lost my W. Smooth. That’s what they call me. Anyway, this is the podcast for wannabe fiction writers and I’m your host Mur Lafferty. Hey, Tim. Good to see you. I’m streaming this to Twitch and I think YouTube. We’ll see how well that goes. And this will go into the feed later on, if you just listen to audio via RSS and the Patreon supporters will get it first. So that is the news there. As for what I’ve been up to, I drove to Boston. Again. Thanks to the coronavirus, we are not comfortable with our kid flying so we drove her up on Friday and drove ourselves back on Saturday because there’s nothing to do, because there’s a pandemic. So, none of the typical touristy things, even just like eating at a nice restaurant, no. So that pretty much wore me out for Sunday and yesterday I was still pretty tired. So today I’m trying to get back into it. And I don’t know why I’m wearing the headphones. Because all it did was confuse me when I tried to get Pretzel going while the stream was live. If you’re a newbie don’t do that. No, don’t do that.

Hope y’all are doing well on this Thursday. Just finished your meeting and made it in. Oh, I’m so glad you like the season episode thing. It’s something I discovered Apple wanted. And I don’t have to wonder what number in 500 I’m at. I can just think, well it’s always gonna be season 17 this year and it’s easier to find the number when it’s in the teens and lower. Hello Underpope. Good to see you. I’m still marking somewhere on the file what the episode number is just in case I ever need it. But for now. Yeah, it’s the season counting thing. I just have to figure out how I can go back and edit the existing files, but without flooding everybody’s RSS feed with old episodes. I don’t think there’s a way unless things have changed. Hey HellJack, I’m glad you’re here regardless, good to see you. Anyway this is I Should be Writing. My name is Mur Lafferty if you don’t otherwise know. Right now I’m a chatting and podcast streamer, I want to get back into gaming but it’s not fitting with my schedule right now. So this is a podcast for wannabe fiction writers. I used to say by a wannabe fiction writer but then I published my first book and people told me I couldn’t say that anymore. And while they’re not the boss of me, I guess they had a point. KayKimmy, my cats are disasters and I dreamed and had the worst bus ride ever but otherwise I’m pretty. That’s good. Over the weekend I had two anxiety dreams about the same friends, which was weird. So don’t really want to look too deeply into that. That’ll just be awkward.
