This seems to be a Nintendo thing; it reminds me of Animal Crossing. My favorite part of AC was turning it off without saving properly because the next time you turned it on you would get this character lecturing you on the proper way to turn off your device. I thought it was funny :-). However, I can imagine the same lecturing would be annoying when it is related to your weight, a subject that most people are already sensitive about.

My family received the WiiFit Plus board for Christmas along with the Wii Active game from EA Sports. I highly recommend Wii Active. I've worked out 4 days in a row with it now and end up sweating. That is a good thing. :)

The WiiFit Plus game CD seems to be just full of games to me so far. I do like the yoga. I do use that set of exercises. The prompting does stink. The WiiFit Plus games, so far, seem like novelty games rather than something designed to make you work out.

Aww, I think the little board is cute. :-) Oh, well, maybe I'm just narcissistic enough to be pleased whenever anyone asks about me, even if it's a video game.

My husband bought me the 'Fitness Coach' game for the Wii - I have to say, it definitely makes me work harder, although I sometimes wish it would integrate the board a little more so I could get more feedback from the game.

He doesn't like the animated board. And my sister says it's creepy. But my autistic step-son will play cheerfully in WiiFit, and we're pleased to have found an active game that he actually likes to play.

Sounds like a bit of a cultural disconnect between Japan, where those features were originally designed, and the US. Although I'm sure there are some people in Japan who are just as unhappy with it as you are, and some people in the USA who think a nosy game-system is just fine.

Congrats on getting back into your routine, no matter what your Wii thinks!

We got a Wii Fit + for xmas too... and I've a coworker who said when her youngest did it late at night it asked where his mom was and shouldn't he be in bed. It also does that disturbing little semi-sexually satisfied "ohhhh" when you step on the balance board... and I hate hearing the condescending tone when it says "oh, that's Obese" when it measures my weight (I'm over 6'2" for crying out loud, 238 IS heavy, but it's not like they're about to give me my own show on TLC).

That said... I've used it every day since we set it up (8 days ago)... and there is an outside activity thing in one of the menus (My Wii Fit Plus I think) where you can put in the amount of non-wii fit time you exercise (ours has encouraged me to do so... but I don't figure "sitting on my ass at work" time counts for much).

HAHAHAHAHA!

Sorry for shouting, but I cackled out loud as I read your post. I've been known to flip the thing off when the Girlie isn't in the room. I hate when it asks you to come up with reasons for the weight gain.

I know just how you feel. We ended up with profiles for the neighbor kids and so it hassles me about them as well.
