SIGNING SUNDAY - and various and sundries

  • I am traveling to the city of my birth, Charlotte, NC, for a signing this Sunday at 2pm at Park Road Books. Hope to see you there! (Yes, I will have copies of PFK with me for purchase!)
  • I appeared on I Killed Awesome Man Episode 1!
  • The state of modern religious music upsets me. I like our Unitarian Universalist church, but man the music sucks. It kinda makes me sad that composers that make music that move me like Handel are more likely to write movie scores instead of music for worship. This is why we need grants for the arts, people. So I don’t have to sing folk music at church.
  • If you hadn’t noticed, I’ve let The News From Poughkeepsie quietly die. I loved the idea, but it was stressing me out a bit much. It was a fun project, sorry I couldn’t keep it up.
  • That’s it for now. There’s cool stuff going on behind the scenes, but nothing I want to talk about yet. ;)

  1. It’s a shame about TNfP. It provided some great inspiration for my own writing and my podcast.

  2. I noticed! :) But then again I let my project involving them die away as well. I know it was great fun reading your prompts every day and seeing if I could come up with a story to go with it, even if I didn’t end up writing anything. I had been toying with the idea of doing my own daily prompts. It seemed like such a neat idea, but I can completely understand how stressful a daily thing can be.
    Good luck with everything!

  3. Ditto on the “folk” church music! If you like Blues or R&B, check out The Mississippi Mass Choir. My personal fave is “It Remains to be Seen” (CD) but all of their stuff rocks.

  4. Am I the only one who misread this and thought Mur was SINGING this Sunday? Oh well, I guess singing did end up getting worked into it anyway.

  5. Might Mur,

I’ve been enjoying your Playing For Keeps Podiobook and would like to purchase a hardcopy of the book. But (if possible) I’d like to have it signed. Which leads to the problem of location. I am much farther north… Ohio to be exact. Now my question is this… could I order a “signed copy” from yo?. Or couId I order it from Amazon and ship it to you for signing.

Anyway, Keep writing and podcasting Mur it is quality stuff.

  6. Ok Mur. I finished listening to the podio book serials of Playing For Keeps. And I’d really like to pick a hard copy of the book…But I’d like (if possible) to get a signed copy. The problem is location…I am much farhter north. In Ohio to be exact. So is there a way I could ‘buy’ a copy directly from you and have it signed? Or could a get a copy from Amazon and send it to you to get it signed?

Either way, keep writing Mur. This book was excellent!

  7. Hi Mur-
I’m visiting your website for the first time and I noticed that people are asking where they can get a signed copy. We’d be happy to help if you want to send people our way. I know that it’s so easy to hit and button or two and have Amazon send a book anywhere, but independent booksellers are also here to help their communities by doing such things as having signings for authors (as powerful as they are, Amazon still cannot fulfill this need for authors), giving donations for fundraisers, and simply be there for their customers.
Thanks and I hope you have a great signing on Sunday
