Jenna never liked the songs about fools being in love. A fool being in love was a delicate matter. Your cleverness falls when you’re in love. Your bias toward the object of your desire may force you to be kinder to them when a stinging barb is needed. And your general mentality to pretend like you’re stupider than everyone else doesn’t make for good wooing.

Jenna hated being in love. But she did love Karen.
