The News From Poughkeepsie - Day 45
Scenes Thursdays
They mocked her. Yes they did, they mocked the career woman, college-educated brilliant scientist when she decided to care for the home. They didn’t know. They couldn’t understand.
Some could. The other women who did the same. They all had the same infestation too.
Mildew and dust bunnies were the masks that covered the truth of keeping a home, and the women liked it that way. If they men knew, if they had an inkling, they’d take over, claim it was their work, and mess it all up. It wasn’t totally sexist, though, many stay-at-home dads were in the ranks, they came to the meetings, they swapped advice and stories. but the ranks were, by and large, women.
Warrior women. Women who battled daily the monsters that lurked within ovens, in shower drains, and in the crisper drawer of the fridge. No one would believe in them, but the women knew. They knew. And they were prepared to fight.

Actually, a new stay-at-home Dad’s intitiation into this society would make for a great story.
Dangit Mur, you’ve given me too many good ideas, and I have too little time to do anything with them (no, literally, Sumemr semester is 16 weeks worth of work packed into 10, and I got more hours at work cause someone else got fired).
