The News From Poughkeepsie - Day 40
Boy, that Noah worked his butt off in 40 days of rain. And Jesus wandered around for 40 days being tempted and stuff. Christians fast for 40 days during Lent. Moses was on the mountain for 40 days. 40 sure is an important number for Christians, and indeed, cycles of 40 days are important to many ancient cultures.
And I’ve been doing this blog for 40 days. I feel like I’m hitting a milestone of sorts. Course, there are over 300 days left, so that’s kinda daunting, but I’m in the groove, and I’m happy with it. So let’s keep going.
First sentence Saturdays:
The kettle screamed.
(Short. Punchy. Implies both violence and tea. And with that, you can go myriad places.)

I’d like to hear more about “many ancient cultures”. The 40s you mentioned are related. Doing anything for 40 days is an accomplishment.
