Changes to The News From Poughkeepsie

Hey all. Thanks for all the great feedback on The News From Poughkeepsie project so far. It’s been challenging and sometimes frustrating, but always fun.

And no, I’m not making drastic changes implying i can’t keep up with the daily posting. I just want some structure in my life. So I’ll be doing a couple of different things, mainly focusing different days on specific ideas.

  • Mondays: character sketches
  • Tuesdays: settings
  • Wednesdays: maguffins
  • Thursdays: scenes
  • Fridays: general ideas
  • Saturdays: first sentences
  • Sundays: anything goes

So keep an eye out for the first in this series - the first sentence Saturday. I feel like I have a problem with first sentences, and this will help me work through those issues.

That’s the goal, anyway.

    I think this is a great idea Mur, I’ve enjoyed the series so far, but I think the structure makes it more interesting. Congrats on your SG column.
